10 Lip Shades Perfect for Fall – Part II
I hope you’re all having a fantastic Thursday! Mine is good, got a bit of a late and slow start but I’m being pretty productive! I had an eventful evening of yoga class, and streaming my video games. And of course, publishing this blog post.
I know what some of you may be wondering. “Hey Helene, isn’t today the first day of winter? So whyyy exactly are you still posting fall posts?” Well some of you may remember me mentioning a short while back that I had fallen behind on my planned fall posts. That’s still true. No biggie though, as this is my last explicitly fall-themed post of this year (sob), and what better way to ring in the official start of winter than with a part 2 to my 10 Perfect Fall Lip Colors post? (Just go with it).
And nooo, I toootally didn’t already have this planned and photographed and forgot about it… No way, what made you think that? Heh heh heh. Heh heh. Ahem. Anyways, on with it then!
Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss “Harvest Time”
Some of you may remember me mentioning a time or two that I’m not the biggest fan of lip gloss. I was when I was younger, but my favorites nowadays are definitely demi matte lipsticks and matte liquid lipsticks. As such, this is the only lip gloss I own (I also have one lip oil but yeah that’s different). I wouldn’t mind owning more shades from this collection, because this lip gloss manages to avoid all the things I hate about lip gloss–it’s not sticky, gloopy, or overly shiny. It doesn’t move much and my hair doesn’t stick in it too bad at all. Plus it’s moisturizing and it’s Burt’s Bees, and we all know how much I love organic and natural makeup. Plus, this shade is perfect for fall, and not just in name. It’s a subtle red-tinted translucent gloss with lovely gold glimmery sheen. It is so easy and perfect for swiping on before heading out for any occasion.
Maybelline Inti-Matte Nudes “Almond Rose”
This lipstick was given to me by my boyfriend’s niece because she didn’t like the way it looked on her. This is actually a nearly-perfect dusky pink for me. I love that it is demi matte and leaning more towards neutral. Neutral, nude, and subtle pinks are so perfect for fall, especially to punctuate darker or more ornate eye looks. They are also perfectly flattering on their own if you’re opting for a more natural look.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Tea & Cookies”
So much is my love of the aforementioned pinks that I have another one that falls very much into that category and is quite similar to the one above, although it is a touch lighter. Also, instead of being a demi matte bullet lipstick, this is a matte liquid lipstick, and therefore offers more opaque coverage, long-lasting wear, and bold color than the lipstick above. It is however more drying. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on this pretty pink, and I think it is fairly universal! Pale skin to deep, this would be pretty on anyone.
Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick “Lady”
Despite the name of this lippie reminding me of Sansa Stark’s adorable and woefully murdered pup (sob again) (any ASoIF/GoT fans here?), I actually quite like this shade. While these Makeup Revolution lipsticks are far from my favorite, they have lovely bold shades available and get the job done. Plus they were like less than $2 each on clearance so who am I to complain? As long as I use every good lipstick trick in the book (i.e., use lip liner, dab lips with a tissue between layers, top with translucent powder, etc.), this lipstick delivers bold and kickass colors. This bright siren red is honestly one of the best autumn reds I’ve seen. Kinda reminds me of an apple, and, y’know, apple picking.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Run the World”
While the name of this lipstick does elicit images of Beyoncé, you certainly don’t have to be her to pull this color off, (although it’d probably help). This lavender-esque light purple is not for the faint of heart, but if you’ve got confidence and perhaps a killer jet black cat eye to pair with it, you can rock this shade. As you’ll see with this entry as well as the one below, I love purple lips for fall.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Amethyst”
Like I said above, I love purple lips for fall. Maybe because they look so good with a sexy flick of black liquid eyeliner and fluffy eyelashes. Maybe it’s because the cool and cool tones (see what I did there?) contrast in such a lovely way against the yellow-orange-red fall leaves and the dark and earth tones we are all undoubtedly wearing this time of year? The world may never know… but you will if you slap this gorgeous purple on your lips. Or really any bold jewel tone. Don’t be afraid of it, embrace it.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Cherry Skies”
Another one of my personal favorite lipsticks makes an appearance on a list, but that’s kinda to be expected, right? Cherry red is a gorgeous and glamorous color that is flattering on most skin tones. Honestly if you’re having a hard time finding a good red that fits your skin and style, have you tried cherry? It’s deep but not over-the-top, bold but wearable, red but not intimidating, and seriously worthy of your time and attention.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Stone Fox”
If I’m not mistaken, this is one of their many cult classic shades, and you can plainly see why. The blue-grey tone mimics stone quite well and is actually more wearable than you may think—just keep the rest of the face bare and you’ll be good to go. Just be warned, this shade is not for the timid, as it just exudes instant cool-girl vibes. Only for people who don’t mind double-takes.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Downtown Beauty”
Speaking of cool-girl vibes, you get them simply by reading the name on the side of this trendy brown liquid lipstick! The delicious chocolate-y hue is perfect by itself, with a minimal black eyeliner, or, despite its deep bold shade, with a dramatic eyeshadow look! Brown shadow with this lippie would make for a double whammy of trendiness, combining the ever-popular brown matte lip trend with the relatively new but no less beautiful monochromatic makeup trend (which I looove in cold weather months, more on that at a later date).
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick “Brooklyn Thorn”
You’re all probably getting sick of me saying things like “cool girl vibes” but I can’t help it if I have so many lip colors that seem hand-crafted for the next It Girl, right? This particular shade kinda goes down the path of the brown lipstick trend, as in it is in the same color family, but the purple undertones cool it down considerably and sets a completely different mood. I envision an artsy or dramatic type wearing this lipstick, and this is also another strong contender for a glamorous monochromatic look, paired with a nearly identical shade of eyeshadow, of course.
So what did you guys think of this? Any lovely autumnal shades you can see yourselves rocking? Any here similar to something you already have and love? Lemme know in the comments down below, as always, I’d love to hear from you!
